Finishing the first quarter of 2023, we’ve already witnessed the launch of several new models, and a select few have captured significant public interest. Here are the 40 most inquired for cars in the Philippines, based on data collected from AutoDeal.com.ph.
This ranking is determined by the percentage of total inquiries each model received compared to the overall market. For this period, we’re excited to see several brands stepping up to become top performers in their respective categories and across the entire market.
Ford Ranger
Starting off in the number one spot, the Ford Ranger garnered 3.2% of all site traffic directed to the inquiry button. With a new generation model recently introduced in the country, it’s no surprise that the Ranger is attracting considerable attention from Filipino car buyers. Even before this latest update, the Ranger was already a popular choice, offering some of the best features available in its segment. Now, with its fresh design, it’s fitting that the Ranger takes the lead.
Toyota Hilux
Following closely behind our top pick is the Ranger’s long-time rival, the Toyota Hilux. Toyota has always been a dominant force in the ladder-frame pickup truck segment, and the Hilux’s legendary reputation continues to hold strong. Filipinos recognize the model’s renowned durability and robust performance. Choosing this nameplate guarantees reliability, and as our data shows, a significant number of inquiries. The Hilux accounted for 2.98% of all inquiries on AutoDeal.
Nissan Navara
In third place, we have yet another pickup truck, marking three consecutive spots for this segment. The Nissan Navara remains a favorite in the Philippine market, with 2.71% of inquiries directed to this model. It’s unsurprising to see the Navara ranked third overall for the first quarter of 2023. Thanks to its comfortable coil-sprung rear suspension, it stands out as one of the most comfortable workhorses available, earning the interest of Filipino car buyers.
Toyota Raize
Moving into the crossover segment, the fourth spot on our list is occupied by the Toyota Raize. This is the first crossover featured, and it’s an affordable model from Toyota that offers utility in a compact and lightweight package. Its respectable ground clearance allows it to easily navigate bumps and potholes, while the Toyota badge assures buyers of its reliability on any road. A total of 2.64% of all inquiries on our site were for the Toyota Raize.
Ford Everest
Not far behind the compact crossover, we find the Ford Everest. Separated by just one-hundredth of a percent, the Ranger’s SUV counterpart showcases its new design in fifth place. The Everest was beginning to feel dated compared to some of its midsize rivals, but Ford has rightly updated it with a modern design that captures attention and sparks consumer interest. With 2.63% of inquiries directed to its page, it’s a testament to the success of Ford’s two flagship models.
Mitsubishi Xpander
The most popular MPV on our list was once a dominant force, and it remains a strong contender. In sixth place, the Mitsubishi Xpander makes an appearance with 2.35% of all inquiries. Following a refresh, the Xpander received a new look to compete with its rivals, and it has been performing very well. The Xpander’s presence on this list for the first quarter of the year also makes it the most popular MPV according to our metrics at this time.
Toyota Vios
The most popular sedan on AutoDeal currently is the Toyota Vios. It’s no surprise that Toyota’s subcompact sedan features on this list. 2.09% of all our inquiries are for the Toyota Vios, highlighting the model’s continued success, as it currently holds a comfortable seventh place. You undoubtedly recognize the Toyota Vios, and you’ve certainly seen one on the road. Securing seventh place in a market filled with popular nameplates speaks volumes about the Vios’s enduring appeal to Filipino car buyers.
Honda BR-V
Eighth on our list is the Honda BR-V, overtaking other MPV models to rank just behind the top MPV. The BR-V received an update last year, and Honda successfully built anticipation for the refreshed model. This seven-seater offers impressive power and torque figures compared to its competitors, combined with the signature Honda driving feel that many consumers have come to love over the years. As a versatile model suitable for various needs, the BR-V presents a compelling alternative if the top pick isn’t to your preference. With 1.99% of all inquiries on AutoDeal, it secures its spot on this list.
Ford Territory
The first compact crossover on our list is another model from Ford. The Territory made its mark when it was first introduced in 2020. After three years on the market, and with a highly anticipated update arriving in the second quarter of this year, the Territory continues to command 1.92% of our inquiries. The value proposition offered by this crossover is highly attractive to Filipino car buyers seeking a reputable brand with significant value. Currently in ninth place, we expect the Territory to climb the rankings in the second quarter of 2023.
Suzuki Ertiga
Rounding out the top three in the seven-seater MPV category and concluding our top 10 is the Suzuki Ertiga, making its mark with 1.87% of our inquiries. The model has long been a solid choice for consumers looking for a dependable and robust seven-seater. Now updated with a mild-hybrid system, the Ertiga has evolved from being a more affordable option to an MPV that delivers substantial value for a similar price to its competitors.
Nissan Terra
Taking the eleventh spot on our list, the Nissan Terra has become a prime choice for consumers looking to purchase a midsize SUV. The Terra has established itself in the highly competitive midsize SUV segment, despite being launched later than many of its rivals. While Nissan entered the market somewhat late with the first-generation Terra, the second-generation model is a worthy successor that we consider one of the best available. Its updated interior and exterior are visually appealing, and it offers impressive features and luxurious amenities for both drivers and passengers. With all of this, the Terra garnered 1.76% of all inquiries in the first quarter of the year.
Toyota Avanza
Yet another seven-seater makes the list. In twelfth place, we have the Toyota Avanza, a model that was recently updated with a new chassis and drivetrain. Now built on a platform more akin to a crossover, the Avanza delivers a more refined ride while maintaining the robustness of its predecessors. Equipped with essential features and being relatively affordable for most consumers, it also benefits from the trusted Toyota brand. In terms of percentages, 1.73% of all our inquiries came from the Avanza’s page.
Toyota Hiace
Another Filipino favorite is the Toyota Hiace. It’s difficult to separate this nameplate from its segment, as the Hiace dominates nearly all metrics in the full-size van category. As the best-selling model in its class, the Hiace is available in a wide range of variants, including the luxurious Super Grandia option. However, we believe the standard Grandia variants attract the bulk of inquiries, accounting for 1.62% of our total. We’re pleased to see this model rank thirteenth on our list.
Toyota Wigo
The smaller sibling to the Raize, the Toyota Wigo, makes an appearance in fourteenth place. This small hatchback is a consistent performer in the market due to its reasonably affordable price, the brand’s reputation, and the overall following the Wigo enjoys as a reliable and practical city car. That’s not to say the little car can’t handle challenging roads, however. With 1.53% of our inquiries, this compact model is also the first small hatchback on our list, making it the most popular small hatch in the country for the first quarter of the year according to our metrics.
Mitsubishi Xpander Cross
While the standard Xpander leads the MPV category in the Philippines, its more stylish counterpart, the Xpander Cross, is another pleasant surprise, securing fifteenth place. The higher price point of this model naturally restricts the number of potential buyers, but that doesn’t mean inquiries decrease. We believe people are still curious about the additional features offered in the Xpander’s more premium version, so we’re not surprised that 1.50% of our inquiries are directed to the Xpander Cross.
Toyota Veloz
There appears to be a trend toward slightly more premium offerings in the seven-seater segment. The Avanza serves as the Veloz’s more affordable counterpart, which naturally makes it a more popular choice. However, the Veloz isn’t far behind, garnering 1.48% of all our inquiries and securing sixteenth place on our list. With its upgraded interior finishes and more striking front fascia, it’s understandable that the Veloz continues to attract a significant portion of our site traffic, alongside the Avanza.
